“Oh the things you can find, if you don’t stay behind!”
- Dr Seuss
"If you’re reading this..."
If you’re reading this then chances are we’ve been in the same boat, aeroplane, train or bus.
Ancient tribes kept moving to find the best pastures for their livestock. Happy cow = happy human. But thankfully you and I can roam for our own purpose and pleasure.
What was your purpose or pleasure? Maybe better career or education opportunities? A higher standard of living? Maybe for love or simply for the adventure? Those are the good ones.
This is your fresh start and you’ve got all the energy and intention. For travel, hobbies, big improvements in your career or learning a new language or skills.
But something happened between the flight over and the weeks since you landed. Like an outfit that fits perfectly in the store but somehow shrinks on the way home – it just doesn’t fit. And now you’re thinking … “What’s the return policy”?
But you shouldn’t be thinking about the return policy. The hardest part is leaving and you’ve managed that. So it’s clear that you have it in you to overcome challenges. What you do need now is to figure out what you want and how to get it.
What’s your “why”?
With work there are so many great job opportunities. The key is getting the right job before financial worries force you into the wrong one.
Or maybe you already have the great job but the company culture is so foreign. So foreign that you feel like a visitor waving outside the office window for someone to let you in.
Maybe you came with a family and their well-being is your priority. You’re being a superhero to many but not to yourself.
Socially? You’re getting out there and you’re making new friends, but new friends doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the right friends. Often the cast of Netflix still seems like the best company.
But where oh where do you start? As a wise man once said – “whoaaa tiger”. You can’t tackle everything at once and this is where coaching comes in.
So let’s put some focus with that energy and see what fantastic results you’re capable of.
